Hi, I'm Naomi Whitestone, an editorial family photographer based in Philadelphia. So glad you're here.

At Naomi Whitestone Photography, our editorial archive is a place where we celebrate the legacies you’re building. Through our intentional editorial approach, we walk alongside families to create photographs that capture the raw emotion, the beautiful vulnerability, and the quiet miracles that shape generations.

Our Miracle of Motherhood series was created exactly for moments like these: maternity, fresh 48, and newborn sessions woven together into one cohesive story that will be how your children understand their entrance into the world, and how you remember this transformative season in your own life.

Today we’re sharing one mother’s deeply personal reflections from her full journey. Her words are honest, hopeful, and full of the kind of raw truth that speaks straight to the hearts of couples who have walked (or are walking) the path of longing, waiting, and finally welcoming their baby.

The Journey Begins

She and her husband had been trying for a while. Fertility treatments led them to Dr. Jerome Check—the very same doctor who helped her own mother conceive her. The full circle-moment felt significant.

When she saw the Miracle of Motherhood series in a local Philadelphia mom’s group, something inside her knew instantly: these were the moments they needed to document. In one of the images from her maternity session, the couple proudly holds up her vision board from January 2025—three months before she even got pregnant. A tiny picture of a baby had been placed there with quiet hope.

What made her say yes to the project? “Honestly I think what made me say yes was how important this project was to Naomi! Her enthusiasm really sealed the deal for me.”

Even though she struggles with self-esteem and felt nervous about being photographed during such a tender, transformative time, she trusted the process. “Naomi made us feel so comfortable and the photos came out amazing!”

Preparing for Maternity: A Shift in Perspective

Simply preparing for the maternity session changed everything.

“Preparing for my maternity session got me so excited to be a mom! I was like ‘this is finally happening—I’m going to be somebody’s mom—I’m creating life!’”

Seeing her pregnant body, her glow, and the love between her and her husband captured so intentionally was life-changing. “To see myself in that aspect was truly amazing and life changing! Now whenever I’m struggling with my confidence, I just look at the beautiful photos and remind myself who I am!”

One image in particular moved her deeply: the pure love between her and her husband. It reframed what truly mattered. “Looking at the pure love between my husband and I really changed my perspective and helped me see what’s really important to me—family.”

The Day You Met: Fresh 48 Hours of Pure Emotion

The first 48 hours after birth are often a beautiful blur. Having them intentionally photographed meant she could hold onto the very first version of her daughter forever.

“I’m so grateful to have the first 48 hours after birth documented. My daughter has changed so much in such a short amount of time. I wanted to remember how it felt to meet my baby who we have been dreaming of for so long!”

The moment she first held her baby? “Pure bliss! My husband and I were both so emotional and crying our eyes out. I’ve never felt such pure joy and love in that way.”

She admits she felt nervous about being photographed in those raw, exhausted, overwhelmed first days. “I was worried I would hate the photos because of how I looked in them. However, it was the complete opposite. I love the photos because I get to look back on the pure love between me, my husband, and our beautiful baby.”

Newborn Grace: Slowing Down to Feel It All

The newborn session gave her family permission to pause.

“Slowing down to honor the bonds between our family felt truly amazing! I really got the chance to pause and take in the love that we formed. I’m so in awe with my beautiful family.”

Looking at all three sessions together—maternity, fresh 48, and newborn—felt like watching their entire story unfold. “It feels amazing to not only see our story unfold, but I hope that this provides hope and inspiration for couples going through the challenging road of infertility.”

Looking Back: Pure Bliss, Love, and a New Light

When she looks at the photographs now, the words that rise to the surface are simple and powerful: Pure bliss, love, amazing, enchanting.

“Looking at the photos really takes me back and it’s like reliving all those special moments. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have these moments documented.”

She had struggled with her changing body during pregnancy. These images helped her see herself differently. “I really struggled with my body changing but now I see myself in a different light—I literally created life!”

And for her daughter one day? “I hope she feels the love that we have for her and for each other.”

This Is Why We Document the Miracle

Stories like hers are the reason the Miracle of Motherhood series, and our family photography studio exists. For families in Philadelphia and surrounding areas who have walked through infertility, who worry about feeling vulnerable in front of the camera, or who simply want to preserve the fleeting magic of becoming parents—these heirloom portraits become anchors. They remind you who you are, what you’ve overcome, and the love that now fills your home.

If you’re dreaming of your own bump to baby story being told with care, comfort, and artistry—maternity, fresh 48, and in-studio newborn—we would be honored to create it with you.

We work with a limited number of families each year so every session receives our complete attention and intention.
